After the latest track-day, the engine was found to low on power. Further investigation revealed internal damage to one of the cylinders, possibly caused by oil shortage.
A replacement engine block of the same type was purchased and stripped. Then all good parts of the damaged engine were used to re-assemble the engine again.
This included cleaning of all external surfaces, flushing of fuel rails and testing of the fuel injectors, re-fitting of the engine wiring loom, and internal cleaning of the inlet plenum and intake runners.
A baffle plate (anti-surge) was purchased and fitted in the engine sump, for protection against loss of oil pressure in high-speed corners.
Next up is joining the engine and gearbox, then installation of the engine/gearbox in the prototype car.
